5 Biggest Stories in Las Vegas Sports (Oct 31 - Nov 6)

The Las Vegas Golden Knights gain a new all-star, Kyle Busch sentenced to sensitivity training, the Henry Ruggs incident, and more this week in Las Vegas Sports.

#5 Kyle Busch sent to sensitivy training

Kyle Busch was eliminated from the playoffs in the round of eight last Sunday after failing to win the race, meaning he won't get a chance to compete for a third championship in Phoenix. Unfortunately for the Las Vegasnative, he was asked about a fellow driver moments after stepping out of his car, and he didn't hold back one bit. He used a slur to describe Brad Keselowski's actions on track, resulting in him being asked to undergo sensitivity training during the offseason.

Busch apologized for his actions on Twitter shortly after the interview, but it wasn't enough to appease NASCAR officials.

#4 Las Vegas Raider Damon Arnette accused of hit-and-run

Las Vegas Raiders Cornerback Damon Arnette was named in a lawsuit this week. The suit alleges that he got into an accident on the way to team headquarters and left the scene without a word.  The driver he hit was seriously injured in the incident and had to be taken to the hospital. Arnette was later questioned at Raiders' headquarters and admitted to being the operator of the vehicle.

According to the suit: "Later defendant Damon Arnette was located and confronted at Raiders Headquarters when he admitted he was the operator of the vehicle that was traveling at a high rate of speed when he lost control of the vehicle and crashed into the vehicle operated by plaintiff Yaneth Coromoto Casique."

The woman also named the Raiders organization as defendants in the case, claiming Arnette was "acting within the course and the scope of the team."

This is the team's third controversy of the year, and the seasons are only half over. Imagine what that means for the coming weeks.

#3 Golden Knights successfully trade for Jack Eichel

Jack Eichel was traded to the Las Vegas Golden Knights this week and while the organization had to trade away Alex Tuch, Peyton Kreb, and two draft picks, it seems like Vegas got the better part of the deal. Of course, it might not be enough to help the team in the short run, especially with the number of star players who are injured, but they could be unbeatable when they get the right pieces together.  Just think about what could happen if William Karlsson, Max Pacioretty, Alex Martinez, and Mark Stone shared the ice with Eichel.

"In Jack Eichel, we are getting a player that I think is one of the top players in the league, one of the top centers in the league, he is in the prime of his career as a player who just turned 25 years old," Golden Knights general manager Kelly McCrimmon said. "It addresses a need in our organization. For me, when you look at what an NHL-contending team should look like, he's a really important piece of that."

#2 William Karlsson out with a broken foot

The Las Vegas Golden Knights have had a pretty pitiful season so far and a lot of that has to do with the countless injuries they have suffered throughout the first ten games. The Golden Knights have already lost Alex Martinez,  Mark Stone, William Carrier, Max Pacioretty, Nolan Patrick, and now William Karlsson to injuries this season. The center reportedly suffered a foot injury and was put on the injured list on November 1. The doctors claim it will be 3 to 6 weeks before he can return.

Unfortunately for VGK fans, there's just nothing to show the Golden Knights will be able to overcome their problems on defense or offense, even with the addition of Jack Eichel. There's just no way forward without these key players.

#1 Henry Ruggs released from Raiders after DUI incident that left 1 dead

This week, the Las Vegas Raiders have a heavy heart because of the tragic events that unfolded on Tuesday. Henry Ruggs was going 158 MPH  down a Las Vegas road when he struck another vehicle. The driver, 23-year-old Tina Tintor, and her dog were killed. Ruggs' blood-alcohol level was twice the legal limit.

Ruggs was released by the  Raiders that night. He appeared in court a few days later where he was charged with DUI resulting in death and reckless driving, which could earn him between 2-20 years in prison. More charges were later added.

"My emotions have been on a roller coaster so to speak this year," Raiders QB Derek Carr said Wednesday. "My heart goes out so much — and try to say it with a straight face because I've already been emotional about every bit of this — but to the family and to all the families involved. No one ever wants to see this, whether it's a football player or not. You never want to see something like this happen."
