Good, Bad, and Ugly from Las Vegas Raiders vs The Washington Football team

The good, the bad, and the ugly from the Las Vegas Raiders' 17-15 loss to the Washington Football. Where does this leave Las Vegas when it comes to the playoffs?

1. The Good: Joshua Jacobs stepping up big for the Las Vegas Raiders

The only good thing that sprung out of the Las Vegas Raiders' loss to The Washington Football team is Joshua Jacobs' never-say-die spirit. While Jacobs is only one man on a team of several, he caught six passes for 38 yards and an average of 4.2 yards a catch. He also racked up 52 yards on 13 attempts for a touchdown that at least kept the Raiders competitive.

The Raiders blew the game, but Jacobs is starting to come into his own. In fact, Sunday marked one of the few times this season that Jacobs was a leading receiver. Whether he can keep that momentum going remains to be seen, but he is starting to become a multi-purpose back.

2. The Bad: The Las Vegas Raiders go 2/8 on third down

It's no secret that the Las Vegas Raidersare looking for their first playoff berth in several years, and they have a long way to go to get there. That path got a lot harder after their somewhat surprising loss to the Washington Football Team. The Raiders only managed to convert two third-downs throughout the entire game. That's just not a good look for a team looking for a playoff spot.

For comparison, the WFT connected on 7 of 13 of their third-down conversions and outplayed the Raiders in several other stats as well. Las Vegas just can't compete against teams who can convert the ball better.

3. The Ugly: Quarterback controversy in Las Vegas

Believe it or not, there has been a slow-burning quarterback controversy raging in  Las Vegas all season long and it’s about to get worse. While neither Derek Carr nor Marcus Mariota has ever said anything about the situation, their fans are more upfront. Team Carr and Team Mariota exist, with a lot of growing support going to the former Heisman Trophy winner.

Looking at Derek Carr’s stats on Sunday, he went 28 of 38 for 239 yards, no touchdowns, and no interceptions. That’s right! Derek Carr. The supposed savior of the Las Vegas Raiders. The man piloting one of the top ten offenses in the entire league couldn't manage to put up a single touchdown in Sunday’s game.  Carr did complete over 70% of his passes, but he never seemed to put the Raiders in a powerful position.

4. Final thoughts: The Las Vegas Raiders are in trouble

According to the Football Power Index, the Las Vegas Raiderscurrently sit with a 9.8% chance of making the playoffs in 2021 after losing the Washington Football Team. This team is imploding in front of our eyes.

The Raiders need to make major changes before the 2022 season begins.
