Eagle Point
Eagle Point in Beaver, Utah is about four hours from Las Vegas; another great option for a day trip. Opening day for the winter season here is December 17. This mountain has plenty of terrain to keep you busy. Choose from 40 different runs and check it all out while riding five chair lifts.

Big Bear
Big Bear in Southern California isn’t too far either. About 3.5 hours away, Big Bear is the best ski spot in SoCal. Venture through 31 trails that branch off from the 8200-foot peak. Ride up Bear Mountain and take in the views on 14 chair lifts.

Mammoth
Mammoth Mountain in California is a longer drive, about 5.5 hours, so this would be best planned as a weekend or multi-day trip. There are plenty of places to stay close by.
Mammoth Mountain has the tallest summit that can be reached by a lift in California. You’ll find yourself in some deep snow here! You can ride an enclosed gondola all the way to the top and enjoy the views, do some cross country skiing, snowboard, tube down the steep hills, and snowmobile. Get your tickets online.

Heavenly Mountain
Heavenly Mountain in Lake Tahoe on the California-Nevada border is a beautiful winter destination. While this is in Northern Nevada, it would probably be better to fly than drive.
With 97 trails, 28 chair lifts, and amazing sky-high views of the lake, this is a prime spot for winter sports. Heavenly also has fun to partake in off the mountain too. Check out breweries, coffee shops, and more amenities that the resort has to offer.
