This week, the Las Vegas Raiders have a heavy heart because of the tragic events that unfolded on Tuesday. Henry Ruggs was going 158 MPH down a Las Vegas road when he struck another vehicle. The driver, 23-year-old Tina Tintor, and her dog were killed. Ruggs' blood-alcohol level was twice the legal limit.
Ruggs was released by the Raiders that night. He appeared in court a few days later where he was charged with DUI resulting in death and reckless driving, which could earn him between 2-20 years in prison. More charges were later added.
"My emotions have been on a roller coaster so to speak this year," Raiders QB Derek Carr said Wednesday. "My heart goes out so much — and try to say it with a straight face because I've already been emotional about every bit of this — but to the family and to all the families involved. No one ever wants to see this, whether it's a football player or not. You never want to see something like this happen."
