5 Bold Las Vegas Sports Predictions for the Rest of 2023

2023 has been insane for Las Vegas sports fans, and things will only ramp up from here. Sin City has so many moving parts and storylines that people wonder what will happen next. It's impossible to predict the future, but here are five Las Vegas sports predictions for the rest of 2023.

#5 Kyle Busch makes the Championship Four at Phoenix International Raceway

[caption id="attachment_35111" align="alignnone" width="1024"]Las Vegas, Source. YouTube[/caption] Kyle Busch looks like a championship contender with Richard Childress Racing in 2023, which is why fans can expect him to make the final four! The Las Vegas native has already racked up three wins this season and sits 6th in the standings. Rowdy has also remained relatively consistent with seven top fives and 12 top tens in 23 races.  While winning the championship is still up in the air, Busch has too much momentum not to make the final four. He is definitely racking up many stage points, which will add to his total playoff points. These numbers reset each round, meaning Busch can maintain his advantage all the way to the Final Four.

#4 Becky Hammon leaves for the NBA at the end of the 2023 season

[caption id="attachment_35112" align="alignnone" width="1024"]Las Vegas Aces, Las Vegas, Source. YouTube[/caption] Becky Hammon is quickly becoming the most dominant coach in the WNBA, raising the question of what she has left to accomplish. She absolutely rocked the league in her first season and helped her team to their first championship.   Fast forward to 2023, and it's pretty much the same thing. Hammon is even winning games after losing Candance Parker to a long-term injury. The NBA will be knocking at her door by season's end with this kind of performance.

#3 Las Vegas Golden Knights make a controversial trade

[caption id="attachment_35113" align="alignnone" width="1024"]Las Vegas Golden Knights, Source. YouTube[/caption] The Las Vegas Golden Knights are Stanley Cup Champions, but that doesn't make their off-season decisions any easier. With many big names entering the final year of their contract, they might have to break up the team that just won a title.  They already did this by dealing Riley Smith to the Pittsburgh Penguins, but that's just the first hammer to fall. Las Vegas now has to decide between Jonathon Marchessault, Chandler Stephenson, Willam Carrier, Michael Amadio, and Alec Martinez. A big decision is likely coming down the pipeline. #2 Jimmy Garoppolo gets injured or benched before the end of the season

[caption id="attachment_34932" align="alignnone" width="1024"]Las Vegas Raiders, Sources. Facebook[/caption] Jimmy Garoppolo doesn't have what it takes to last an entire NFL season, and everyone knows it. The former San Francisco 49er has proven to be too injury-prone and has performance issues when he is healthy. This is why he hasn't completed a full season since 2019 and might not be much help to the Las Vegas Raiders. Garoppolo also has difficulty staying healthy when the team needs him. A perfect example is when he filled in for Tom Brady during his deflate-gate suspension and immediately put the team in a hole. Garoppolo only lasted until week two before he went down with an injury. A few years later, he became the star in San Francisco, only to lose the job due to a freak injury early in the season. The Las Vegas Raiders are doomed with Garoppolo, and the difficulty of their schedule is going to show that. He is an inconsistent quarterback who couldn't make it work with the 49ers and will get eaten alive in the AFC West.

#1 Josh McDaniels gets fired

[caption id="attachment_33610" align="alignnone" width="1024"]Las Vegas Raiders, Source. YouTube[/caption] I predict Josh McDaniels isn't going to be the head coach of the Las Vegas Raiders for much longer. Not only is that evident by his issues in 2022, but also due to critical mistakes during the offseason. These include investing in an injury-prone quarterback and not revamping the defense. He also traded Darren Waller to the New York Jets for a draft pick in a move that angered many online. Las Vegas already has the second most demanding schedule in 2023, which is going to make things even more difficult. These obstacles are going to be too much to overcome. He just doesn't have the coaching experience to fix these problems. Next: Best and worst of Las Vegas sports.
