These Are the 13 Best Hotels Near Fremont Street

Las Vegas is home to the best hotels in the world, from luxurious villas to simple budget spots that provide a place to sleep. So where should you stay?

If you don't know Vegas, you might think the Strip is your only option. But that's only because the hotels on bustling Fremont Street in Downtown Vegas aren’t discussed anywhere near as much as their famous counterparts on Las Vegas Blvd! So, if you’re thinking about an off-Strip stay, let’s get into the hotels near Fremont Street that tourists sometimes overlook.

Some of these hotels lead directly onto Fremont Street, with balconies overlooking the fun and casino doors that spill you out into the heart of the action, and others are situated mere steps away from the notable street experience.

1. Golden Nugget Las Vegas Hotel & Casino

My favorite hotel in Las Vegas is the Golden Nugget. Home to a great selection of restaurants, bars, and a decent casino, there’s little left to want from this hotel. It’s one that has stood the test of time and provides room at a reasonable price thanks to its off-Strip location.

The Golden Nugget also has a unique pool with a waterslide through a shark tank.

2. The D Casino & Hotel

The D is a popular choice for those visiting on a budget and craving a young, party vibe. With doors leading directly onto Fremont Street, 629 contemporary guest rooms, dancing dealers, and a few restaurants, there’s everything you need from a decent hotel.

Not sure what a dancing dealer is? It's exactly what it sounds like! Picture women dancing and dealing cards in fun, skimpy outfits.

3. Golden Gate Hotel & Casino

One of the most historically rich hotels in Las Vegas, the Golden Gate Hotel was the first hotel in Las Vegas (its address is quite literally ‘1 Fremont Street’) and dates back to 1906. It’s a solid choice for those interested in the city’s history and boasts beautiful vintage decor.

The rooms are relatively small, but former guests say the service is decent.

4. Plaza Hotel & Casino

Just across the road from the end of the iconic Fremont Street Experience is the Plaza Hotel and Casino. It's a nice throwback spot with a popular pool and plenty of bars.

There are cheap, convenient food outlets here, like Pinkbox and Subway. But if you're willing to splurge,  I recommend a trip to Oscar’s Steakhouse!

5. Circa Resort and Casino

The Circa Resort and Casino is a notable choice for an adults-only stay in Las Vegas. It sits at the end of Fremont Street, opposite the Golden Gate Hotel & Casino. It is known for being home to ‘Stadium Swim,’ a collection of six pools from which you can watch all the major sporting events on a huge screen. The three-story sportsbook is also the city's largest!

Needless to say, Circa Resort and Casino is a hit for sports fans.

6. Binion’s Gambling Hall

[caption id="attachment_72860" align="alignnone" width="371"]Binion's Binion's[/caption]

Previously known as Binion’s Horseshoe, Binion’s Gambling Hall has been a long-standing attraction on Fremont Street. What many passersby don’t know, though, is that this famous historic gambling hall is actually home to a small haunted hotel!

With many reports of spirits in residence at this hotel and its vintage-style furnishings, you're reminded of Binion's original Hotel Apache, which opened in 1932.

Reviews say Binion's isn’t soundproofed very well, so the noise from Fremont Street can be a bit of a disruption. That said, you probably won't mind if you plan to be out and about, enjoying the Fremont Street Experience at night.

7. Fremont Hotel & Casino

You can’t list the best hotels near Fremont Street without including Fremont Hotel & Casino - if just for its name alone! With recently renovated accommodations, a selection of on-site eats, and plenty of bars and betting opportunities here, it’s a solid choice for your Vegas vacation.

8. Four Queens Hotel & Casino

Much like the aforementioned Golden Nugget, this is one of Fremont Street’s most iconic hotels. It offers rooms for a price much lower than hotels of the same quality on the Strip. And, it doesn’t charge resort fees!

The Four Queens has two on-site restaurants, a pool terrace, and a lively atmosphere.

9. Main Street Station Casino Brewery Hotel

If you appreciate antiques and historical artifacts, you’ll love a stay at Main Street Station Casino Brewery Hotel. The hotel offers rare antiques and curiosities (including a slab of the Berlin Wall!)., as well as a sizeable buffet and fun casino. One of the best-kept secrets in Las Vegas, this hotel is a step back in time to the Victorian era.

Previous guests rave about the comfortable beds, the old Victorian-style decor, and the buffet, which includes mouthwatering all-you-can-eat crab legs!

10. California Hotel & Casino

With a range of Hawaiian touches throughout, California Hotel and Casino is an older hotel known for its Oxtail Soup. This is the place for you if you love Hawaiian. Former visitors recommend their prime rib and praise the hotel for its comfortable bed.

A minute’s walk from Fremont Street, the Downtown Grand offers a lively casino and a beautiful pool deck.

Praised for its excellent service, it’s a good spot to stay if you’re looking for somewhere a little quieter.

12. Oasis at Gold Spike

This boutique hotel has only 128 rooms, all of which have been fully renovated and individually designed. Featuring a mid-century style throughout, a retro pool, and one of the most fun bars in Vegas, this adults-only boutique hotel is a fun stay for anyone looking for something a little less ‘Vegas’.

Former guests praise this eclectic hotel for its customer service, clean and well-maintained rooms, and trendy vibe.

13. El Cortez Hotel and Casino

[caption id="attachment_72857" align="alignnone" width="363"]El Cortez El Cortez[/caption]

The original icon of the downtown area, El Cortez is just a short walk away from Fremont Street and is known as the longest continuously-running casino in Las Vegas. It's also famous for having been bought by gangsters Bugsy Siegel, Meyer Lansky, Gus Greenbaum, and Moe Sedway for a short period before being sold in order to build the Flamingo.

Despite its relatively small size, its rooms are spacious, and there's plenty to do. Previous guests praise the El Cortez's low prices and convenient location.
