Ranking Current Las Vegas Sports Coaches (June 2024)

From worst to first, here's how we rank Las Vegas sports coaches in 2024.

#4 Josh McDaniels, Las Vegas Raiders former head coach

Josh McDaniels is in a category of his own. He’s a guy who thought he could implement the Patriot way in Las Vegas and made everything worse. His 3-5  record got him fired midseason, which led to Antonio Pierce getting the job. McDaniels didn't know what he was doing and seemed to just be trying to copy the previous success in New England.

McDaniels isn’t Bill Belichick, however, and Jimmy Garoppolo proved he was no Tom Brady.  A competent head coach would have known that, but McDaniels wanted to throw $10 million a year at him. He also spent millions on keeping Derek Carr in a move that was doomed from the start.

#3 Bruce Cassidy, Las Vegas Golden Knights Head Coach

The Las Vegas Golden Knights going from Stanely Cup Champions in 2023 to a first-round exit in the playoffs the very next year is quite a fall from grace. It's probably also going to go down as a major stain on the legacy of head coach Bruce Cassidy.

While Cassidy is the man who inherited the Golden Knights from Pete Deboer in 2022 and took them to the title, he showed none of that brilliance in the 2023-2024 season. Instead, he let injuries, bad lineups, better teams, and missed opportunities dictate the season.

#2 Antonio Pierce, Las Vegas Raiders Head Coach

Antonio Pierce is hoping to do the impossible and get the Las Vegas Raiders back on track. He already somewhat achieved that in 2023 with a record of 5-4, but didn't make the playoffs because of some late-season losses that really destroyed their chances of a wild-card spot. He is now looking to bring the Raiders back to the playoffs for the first time since 2022, when they lost to the Bengals.

While Pierce deserves praise for keeping the Raiders on track, his decision-making is questionable. One example is taking a tight end in the draft when they needed a Quarterback. Another is bringing Gardner Minshew in to compete with Aidan O’Connell for the QB position. The Raiders might be behind this guy, but he's going to have to take that support and turn it into progress.

#1 Becky Hammon, Las Vegas Aces Head Coach

Becky Hammon might not be the unstoppable force she entered the league as, but she is still the best Las Vegas has to offer. She will always be the first head coach to bring a championship to Las Vegas, and she added a second one the very next season in 2023.

Fast-forward to 2024, and not a lot has changed. The Las Vegas Aces are fighting with the Lynx for the top spot in the league after suffering a few losses. Hammon’s biggest problems this time around seem to be other teams catching up to her strategies and a loss of depth.

Hammon may become the best coach in Las Vegas history if she gets the team the three-peat.
