Kyle Busch is one of the most talented drivers in the sport's history, but that doesn't necessarily give him an advantage when it comes to the Gen six-car that will be debuting this February at the NASCAR Cup Series level. In fact, all Cup drivers will be starting from square one when it comes to how to approach the new model. Unfortunately for Busch, who is a two-time Cup Series champion, this includes him. Then again, the Las Vegas native might appreciate the chance to work with something new after two straight years of missing the Final four in Phoenix, but he hasn't exactly given the new car a glowing review either.
"Yeah, I've kind of seen it, but I've not driven it," Busch said in an interview. "From my vantage point, when you take out all the ability for race teams to be creative and ingenuity and the engineering aspect, everything's gone, you know. So it's just a race of engine development, I guess... So I'm not necessarily a fan of it. I think it's a step in the wrong direction, but that's what we got."
Busch could turn over a new leaf in this car; it would do him well to keep an open mind about it.
