Unrealized potential is going to be a recurring theme on this list. When it comes to Sin City native Brendan Gaughan, he managed to win several races in NASCAR’s lower-tiered series, but was never able to reach that same success at the Cup level. He peaked too early.

Looking at his Cup Series career, Gaughan competed in 63 races, earning zero wins, one top-five, eight top-tens, and 43 laps led. This would pale in comparison to his Xfinity and Truck Series numbers, where he would combine for ten wins, 67 top-fives, and 154 top-tens. Again, it’s a matter of potential, and that's why fans probably wouldn’t mind seeing him again.
