While the Money in the Bank event is usually a welcomed break from the monotony of WWE, it is now shrouded in controversy. The pay-per-view is set to take place at Allegiant Stadium this summer, and everything will be different. Money in the Bank is usually the event where future champions are pegged in an annual ladder match. They win the Money in the Bank briefcase and are guaranteed a championship at a time and place of their choosing.

However, WWE Superstar Cody Rhodes took part in a  commercial that advertised the winners of the briefcase getting to compete in the main event of WrestleMania, an honor usually reserved for The Royal Rumble match. A recent statement by Dave Meltzer from The Wrestling Observer doesn’t shine much light on the issue.

“The only direct company word regarding that question was there is nothing definitive either way... although that commercial aired three times without an edit.”
