Milestones and Memories Part 1 - Achievements
Milestones and Memories Part 1 - Achievements
Successful productions reach milestones in a very competitive landscape...
Normally at this time of the year, VEGAS 411 presents "Summer Show Shuffle", an ongoing series that lets you know about shows that have relocated...and where to. The only significant change this season has been KING OF DIAMONDS, which moved to the AHERN LIVE Showroom. But there is plenty of other entertainment news to share.
In the first of a three-part series, I'll cover recent milestones for ongoing productions. In the second and third, we'll look in on brand-new venues and shows, followed by those that said "farewell."
ACHIEVEMENTS
Many Vegas productions have recently reached noteworthy pinnacles for their runs. Some celebrated with parties and press releases, while others quietly raised their glasses. AWAKENING - Version 2.0 Reaches One Year
Once known as a "FIFTH ELEMENT knockoff", Wynn's AWAKENING came into its own after a much-needed overhaul. AWAKENING was injected with a new storyline, sequences, characters, and songs. Tens of millions of dollars and months of work later, the reboot landed more favorably. While its script, dialog, and sidekick characters could use another polish, it's a much better show than before. See our revised review here.
ALL SHOOK UP - Ten Years
VEGAS 411 covered this news in January, but since it's "The Summer of Elvis", we'll mention it again. Award-winning ALL SHOOK UP celebrates a decade of performances this year. Produced by Kurt Brown and featuring a live band with rotating lead performers, ALL SHOOK UP continues to be a sure-fire hit.
Once located at the troubled V Theater at Planet Hollywood, the show moved to Alexis Park Resort in 2022. It performs seven nights a week at 6 pm. Get tickets by heading here.
LATE NIGHT MAGIC - One Year at Orleans Casino
Adults-only LATE NIGHT MAGIC celebrated its first full year at Orleans Casino on June 1st. Starring John Shaw, Hollie England, Bizarro, The Shocker, and hosted by Doug "Lefty" Leferovich, LATE NIGHT MAGIC performs at The Venue on Saturday nights at 9 pm. Get tickets by heading here.
THE CONJURORS: CABIN OF WONDERS - 100 Performances
The Venue at Orleans Casino is a little bitty place with big ambitions. Operated by Pompey Entertainment with prodigy Dayton Costa doing the heavy lifting, The Venue was featured in a VEGAS 411 roundup earlier this year. This month they had two mini-galas for LATE NIGHT MAGIC and THE CONJURORS: Cabin of Wonders.
While relatively new to the Venue line-up, The Conjurors hit the ground running. Buzz for the show was instantaneous...a remarkable achievement in the crowded Sin City entertainment scene. Stars Natasha Lamb and Matthew Pomeroy are charismatic, witty, attractive, and extremely talented, making what could be "just another magic/mentalism show" into something you'll want to see more than once (full review here).
Last week, Damian Costa (left) and son Dayton (Pompey Entertainment) presented The Conjurors with a cake and post-show party. In attendance were familiar faces like Jennifer Romas (EXXCITE), Murray Sawchuck, Quinton Lopez (DITA LAS VEGAS, ATOMIC SALOON SHOW), Mervant Vera (America's Got Talent), and Vincent John (The Bronx Wanderers).
The Conjurors: Cabin of Wonders performs Thursday through Tuesday at 6 pm. Make your tickets appear by clicking here.
MAGIC OF JEN KRAMER - Six Years at Westgate Las Vegas
Endearing entertainer Jen Kramer remains the only headlining female magician in Las Vegas. Her show, THE MAGIC OF JEN KRAMER, recently hit the six-year mark at Westgate Las Vegas. The production has undergone an update, with colleague Doug Leferovich of LATE NIGHT MAGIC helping Kramer to create a new finale:
"The past couple of weeks has been quite a ‘ride!’ I had the pleasure of consulting on the new finale of Jen Kramer’s resident show at the Westgate Hotel & Casino. It has truly been a team effort to make this illusion fit Jen’s personality and the arc of the show. We worked to refine the routine, staging, lighting, sound, props, and dialogue, as every piece needed to fit together like a puzzle." - Doug Leferovich
The family-friendly MAGIC OF JEN KRAMER performs every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday at 5 pm. Get tickets by heading here.
CARPENTERS LEGACY - 100 Shows at V Theater Planet Hollywood
Photos by Aaron Elekes, GO LIVE VEGAS
Sin City's only Carpenters tribute show reached its 100th performance at V Theater on May 21st. To celebrate, producer Johnny Stuart and the CARPENTERS LEGACY cast invited media guests to a special performance on June 20th, followed by a gathering at FLIGHTS. The show previously performed at different venues throughout Las Vegas, including an extended stint at Modern Showrooms at Alexis Park.
CARPENTERS LEGACY has racked up over 350 Las Vegas performances. They released an album of classic favorites in 2022 and perform Monday through Thursday at 5 pm. Tickets to the show can be ordered here.
In the next chapter, we'll look at brand-new venues and productions like CASH AFTER DARK, a terrific tribute to Johnny Cash starring Cliff Wright.
