VEGAS DANCE EXPLOSION Celebrates 25 Years

Westgate's line-dancing experience has grown into a six-day all-dance extravaganza...

It started in 1999 when lovebirds Jackie and Doug Miranda first took to a California dance floor. Their passion for line dancing exploded into a project that grew larger with each consecutive iteration. Twenty-five years later, VEGAS DANCE EXPLOSION will fill Westgate Las Vegas meeting spaces all this week. The party reaches a fever pitch on Saturday night with a Silver Anniversary Celebration Show. Participants from forty-eight states and over thirty countries have descended on Sin City for VEGAS DANCE EXPLOSION. Attendance was capped out at two thousand people this year. The event will fill multiple ballrooms throughout Westgate's event center. Temporary wooden dance floors have been laid and indoor bleachers were erected to view the many competitions and shows. VEGAS 411 stopped by Westgate Resort on Tuesday, November 12, as attendees arrived and the first few sessions began. Hundreds of additional participants will flood into the historic resort, which has hosted VDE since the Riviera Hotel closed in 2015. Participants range in age from sixteen to ninety-five, making VEGAS DANCE EXPLOSION a multi-cultural all-generation celebration of the arts. The ultimate goal is to have fun fun FUN!!!! Jackie told VEGAS 411 that online registration began last December. The official website allowed participants to prepare for classes and demonstrations through five pages of instructional demo videos and music tracks. The six-day schedule is as intricate as a choreographed production number. [embed]https://youtu.be/TJzL3Dl7uiY[/embed] VDE line dancing is no longer limited to country music; several genres from waltz to hip-hop are represented. Classes are divided into "Beginner", "Improving", "Intermediate", and "Advanced". Budding choreographers will face off in a three-day Choreographer Competition to earn a spot as a future VDE Instructor. Events include fitness classes, a Silent Disco Dance Party, a Praise and Worship gathering, a Rock-A-Hula Dinner Show, T-Shirt Cutting Class, an Arabian Nights Show (with live camels), open dancing, and everyone's favorite...a Flash Mob. The goal is to set a Guinness world record for the largest spontaneous indoor line-dance flash mob. You can witness the results when her mob gathers on Friday, November 15th at 1:30 pm. Classes are broken down by day, level of skill, and location. While it's far too late to join this year's events, registration for 2025 will undoubtedly be open within the next month or two.
